I am happy to be joining the “Stamping with Friends” design team and this, my first hop with the team.
Today we are focusing on birthday cards created based on a sketch. I recently participated in a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator swap and this is the sketch I used to create my swap which is a birthday card. I used this sketch from the many available through Mojo Monday. I prefer the sketches that include measurements like this one because it saves me time.
In my card below, I improvised slightly in that I did not use a 3.5″ x 2.5″ piece. I decided to use the “In the Wild” suite collection and used a stamped die-cut tiger instead. I die cut the tiger using Crushed Curry card stock. The Stamparatus helped to ensure I had the images lined up on the tiger correctly for each of the 11 identical cards I created. It took about a minute to figure out where to place the stripes for the body. He is applied to the embossed strip using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I enjoyed assembling this card and frankly, it was one of the quickest swaps I ever created. I already had several of the Thick Very Vanilla 4.25″ x 5.25″ pieces cut from a prior project. All I had to do was take a 3.5″ strip of Wild Designer Series Paper (DSP) and cut it in 2″ strips paying attention to the DSP design since it is directional. I cut 5 strips of Cajun Craze and embossed all of them at the same time by running the embossing folder through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine.

I hope this card shows you how this suite can create beautiful cards. I was not a fan at first but it has grown on me and is now one of my favorites. Please contact your Stampin’ Up! demonstrtor if you have any questions or to make a product purchase. I am happy to answer any questions about products or this card shown here.
